Lost of the lost #9
Is being saved really enough?
I know I've covered this topic before but I feel it is vitally important to cover this issue once more for the LOST. Let me start off by saying that if you believe that just being saved is enough to get you into Heaven then you are LOST. Another thing, If you do not read the Bible yourself then how do you know what it really says? You don't! You're LOST. A pastor isn't going to tell you everything the Bible says...not to mention, a lot of pastors leave out scriptures that are very important for a true Christian lifestyle. Let me also say that a pastor cannot save you. Your salvation is not through your pastor, church, family, or friends. Your salvation comes through Jesus Christ. Just because a pastor prays over you and gets you to say the sinners prayer does not mean you are saved. Just because you're family and/or friends are Christian does not mean you are saved. Just because you believe in God does not mean you are saved. You must humble yourself to God, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and ask for forgiveness for your sins. It is complete intimacy between you and God, not a pastor. To further stress the importance of this devotional let me tell you something that most Christians don't know...Once you are saved you MUST try to live a Christ-like life. If you deliberately sin after you have been saved that is the equivalent of you crucifying Jesus. Scripture makes it very clear that being saved isn't enough. Now don't get me wrong, if you are saved you can be forgiven for your sins BUT if you deliberately sin there is no sacrifice left for your sins.
(Spoken by Jesus)
"If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgement and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God." Hebrews 10:26-27
"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?"
Luke 9:23-25
"Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1 21-27
"They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good." Titus 1:16
"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the Kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." Proverbs 14:12
"Fear the Lord and the King, my son, and do not join with the rebellious, for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring?" Proverbs 24:21-22
"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."
Revelation 22:14-15
"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." Proverbs 28:13
"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming." Colossians 3:5-6
"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." John 2:17
"Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character." Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God - I say this to your shame."
1 Corinthians 15:33-34
"You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons." 1 Corinthians 10:21
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." Matthew 7:24
It is time for repentance. Repentance doesn't just mean to ask for forgiveness, it means to turn away from your sin. None of us are perfect and we're all going to slip up but we must try to live a Christ-like life. God knows when you're trying and he knows when you're taking you salvation for granted.
God bless you all!
